Education has the power to change lives. It is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. That’s what Nelson Mandela said, one of the greatest leaders the world has ever seen. But in a country like ours, where education is a privilege and not a fundamental human right, how do we initiate change? How do we expect to have leaders like Nelson Mandela and Muhammad Ali Jinnah who will lead the winds of change?

Pakistan has one of the world’s highest rates of children out of school. Today, more than 26 million children do not have access to education, and those who do are not provided with quality education and lack basic skills. Moreover, the country has a female literacy rate of only 49% which leads to a lack of women in the labor force, resulting in a major loss of potential productivity.

In such desperate times, when the economy is failing and there’s this bleak hopelessness that has surrounded us, what do we do? How can we, us common people, pave the way for change? How can we help the situation when we do not have the power and authority to change the world?

But that’s where we’re wrong. If education has what it needs to change the world, then we are the beholders of change. If education is the most powerful weapon, then we are equipped to wage a war against illiteracy and ignorance. With Learning Ka Wheel.

LKW, short for Learning Ka Wheel, is an initiative by Youth Impact to train and educate young students in less privileged areas and enhance their interpersonal skills, health and hygiene as well as develop skills like problem-solving and critical thinking in their daily life to pave their way towards a better future. The program consists of 4 modules, based on Health, Finance, Personality and Digital Literacy; all key elements to empower students to become stronger individuals along with responsible citizens.

LKW provides a holistic approach towards education, developing financially independent and confident individuals who are ambitious learners and aspire to serve their community. As of 2023, LKW has been successful in training 2600 students from 86 schools in a span of 6 months. However, the story doesn’t end here. Youth Impact is currently on a mission to completely eradicate illiteracy and all the problems it comes with, aiming to train 1.2 million students through the Learning Ka Wheel by 2030, helping them build the life they deserve!

This World Education Day, how about you play your part in making this mission possible?

Yaqeen, Amal and Aman; a journey commenced in mountains to be continued forever.

Camp Himalayas is a journey of Yaqeen, Amal and Aman. A journey that commence with Yaqeen (Self believe), and continues by the passion of Amal (ceaseless efforts) to acquire the ultimate goal, Aman (freedom from disharmony).

This self believe starts in wilderness, out of comfort zone, where, with each passing minute the individual transforms into a better version of themselves. Having nature in the surrounding, connected intellection , assigned tasks  and overcoming challenges, all these work as fire to mould the individual into pure aurous. Once the self believe is inculcated, the urge to act sparks and that fuels the ceaseless efforts to bring a positive change in society. With continuous efforts; either small or big, peace becomes the destiny.

The whole Camp Himalayas is designed on exclusive approach, from norm setting to map navigation, cooking competition, rock climbing, trekking, walk above clouds and all such (apparently) risky and thrilling experiences holds meaningful learnings, indirectly convey peace values. Sessions from experts on crucial aspects of life and civilization make it more thought provoking and provide valuable life lessons.

Another element that makes camp Himalayas unique is the diversity of participants, aged between 17-24. So far, 400 participants from five geographical regions, 63 districts, 139 institutions, speaking 25 native languages and representing 3 religions (Muslim, Hindu and Christian) all included under one umbrella – Camp Himalayas.

The most effectual advantage of this diversity is taken of in the second phase of Camp Himalayas, where these 400 Youth Impactors, Change-makers and Peace-builders multiply the impact of this fellowship. These Impactors keenly observed peace disturbing issues, analyzed the gravity of those issues and carried out actions to tackle them. Cumulatively, 10,996 beneficiaries residing in 31 different cities have benefited through 365 seminars and 58 Social Action Projects conducted by the participants.

This amplified impact  brings you to the other side of stage where the vision of Peaceful Human dwelling lies. Where the unceased efforts succeeded to attain the goal, actualized only by the trust in the vision.

At Camp Himalayas, we have dreamed for a beautiful, peaceful and progressive Pakistan and our young leaders, through their action are making it a realty.

Rehabilitation of Juvenile Offenders is a pilot project proposed by Youth Impact in Karachi, Pakistan, aimed at providing sustainable rehabilitation to juvenile offenders at Karachi Juvenile Jail. The project aims to empower these young offenders with the skills, resources, and networks they need to rehabilitate themselves, both psychologically and financially, after they are bailed out of jail. The project will target a batch of approximately 20 youthful offenders who have been bailed out of the Central Jail of Karachi. These offenders often face challenges such as being labeled as criminals, poverty and deprivation at home, and social circles that may encourage further wrongdoing. To address these challenges, Youth Impact proposes a comprehensive intervention that focuses on each segment of the offenders’ life cycle, including engagement with them while they are still in the juvenile center and a follow-up plan once they are bailed out. The goal of the project is to bring improvement in the lives of the targeted juvenile offenders and to reduce the rate of violent extremism and crime in society through the socio-economic empowerment of the youthful offenders. The objectives of the project include designing and implementing activities such as mentoring and psychotherapy sessions, upgrading skills, and financing to improve the financial state of the offenders. The project also aims to engage with the offenders while they are still in the juvenile center and to have a follow-up plan once they are bailed out to provide ongoing support for their rehabilitation.
